AISD that requires all classroom volunteers to have training and background checks.
A. Criminal Background Check
In order to volunteer in a position where you work directly with our students, you must have a full background check (Criminal convictions larger than class C misdemeanors).
To have the background check run:
- Go to: Austinpartners.org
- Click volunteer
- Select general and one time volunteer and Doss and click search
- At the bottom, click on “general volunteering - Doss Elementary”
- Sign up with your email address
- Click volunteer registration
- Authorize background check
- Fill out the form
It takes a week or two to get results. If you have been screened for Read Naturally or the fifth grade field trip, or if you are a district employee, you do not have to do this again. Notification that the background check is complete will come from AustinPartners.org through email.
B. Volunteer Training
In order to cover a class without a teacher present, you also need to go through a quick and simple training. The training will be done by Mrs. Raven. She will simply go over policies for what to do if a child gets sick or if there were a fire alarm and you needed to evacuate the building, and other things like how and when to use the phones, etc.
The next Volunteer Training is scheduled for: Friday, Dec. 11 at 11am in the cafeteria.
