New Student Registration

August 6th, 2010 · Comments Off

AISD New Student Registration begins MONDAY August 9 and runs through FRIDAY August 13 during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This registration is only for students who have just moved into Austin and to AISD, or for current AISD students who didn’t pre-register for whatever reason, or for AISD students who have moved or transferred schools over the summer and need to re-register. If your child did pre-registration in the Spring, or registered for Kindergarten through Kindergarten Roundup last May, this does not pertain to you.

Register your student at the front office of the elementary school your child is about to attend. You are encouraged to visit the Doss office earlier in the day as the late afternoon can sometimes be very busy. For more information, please visit the AISD website. Students needing to register for the middle school or high school should also check the website for the dates and times for those school ages.

Green Ribbon Schools

May 28th, 2010 · Comments Off

As a community, Doss has made great strides toward “greening our school” this year. Now it’s time for us to get a little recognition for all that hard work . . . and a little inspiration for next year. Green Ribon Schools is an organization dedicated to encouraging environmental education and stewardship in our schools. Doss is a Founding Member. As a Founding Member, we will receive a banner, wrist bands, and a chance to win $100 for Doss. This year, the web site serves as a place to list and describe the various events we have sponsored throughout the 2009-2010 school year. In the future, this web site will serve as a great resource for ideas and as a centralized place to organize and share our efforts. Teachers throughout the school can record their environmental projects, perhaps inspiring greater coordination throughout the school community.

Additionally, the school that has the largest team of teachers and students signed up by June 1 will receive additional recognition from the program.  Please take a few moments to sign your kids up on the site.  There is no obligation to do anything or to receive annoying e-newsletters.  If you have more than one child at Doss, please sign each child up individually.

To register, go to http://www.greenribbonschools.org/ and click on “Get Started.” Then click on “Register Now.” Complete the registration form. In the “School/Group” field, type Doss and select “Doss El.”

Once you’ve registered, take a look around the site. There are a lot of great resources.

TA Brown Drives a success

May 14th, 2010 · Comments Off

Thank you to all for contributing to the TA Brown Elementary (our Sister school) toiletries and clothing drives. As always the TA Brown students and staff were very appreciative of your efforts. Below is an except from a message of thanks from Ms. Scales, the counselor at TA Brown.

“… When I saw all of the items you all had delivered, my face lit up like diamonds. Words cannot express how grateful we are to each of you, for sharing your goodness with our children.  We are truly blessed to have you as our “Sister School!”  I really don’t know what TA Brown would do without your caring hearts.  I am truly in an “attitude of gratitude!”

Ms. Scales
