Welcome all Doss Parents!

We are excited that you will be joining us for the 2017-2018 school year.  Please read the following information and Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about enrolling and kicking off the next school year.


 

When do I register my child to attend Doss?

Online Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is now open for currently enrolled students.

To complete the registration process you may bring your child(ren) documentation to Pat Minford in the front office if you currently live in the Doss attendance zone between the hours of 7:00 am and 2:00 pm.

For families moving over the summer, fall registration will be held August 6, 7 & 8th from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. There is no need to set up an appointment, it is on a first come first serve basis.


 

We moved from another AISD school into the neighborhood over the summer. How do I Register my child to attend Doss Elementary?

  1. Complete online registration on your parent cloud account
  2. Fill out the records request form
  3. Bring in your current proof of address to the front office August 6, 7, & 8th from   8:30 am – 3 pm

 

How do I Register to attend Doss Elementary?

Students who are NOT currently enrolled in AISD must complete the following steps:

  1. Create a Parent Cloud account and complete online registration:
  2.  Bring the following documentation to the front office:
    • Proof of residence showing parent name
      • lease, all occupants listed
      • current mortgage statement
      • current City of Austin electric bill
    • State issued Birth Certificate
    • Immunizations https://www.austinisd.org/student-health
    • Social Security Card
    • Parent’s driver’s license
    • Confirmation page of online registration
    • Custody documents if applicable
  1. For Grades 1- 5 only

Note: Your student is unable to be placed in a class until all steps have been completed and all documentation has been verified by the Registrar.

How do I know if Doss is my home school?

How old does my child have to be to enter Kindergarten?

Your child must be 5 on or before September 2

 

Does Doss offer Pre-K?

Yes, To be eligible for enrollment in the state-mandated pre-K program, a child must be four years of age on or
before September 1st of 2018, live in the district, and must:

  • Be unable to speak and/or comprehend the English language; or
  • Be educationally disadvantaged (qualify for free/reduced lunch); or
  • Be homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11302; or
  • Be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States; or
  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the Unites States who was injured or killed while
    serving on active duty; or
  • Currently or ever have been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective
    Services.

All pre-school aged students in the Doss attendance zone will need to complete the online application and bring the
following documents to Pat Minford in the front office beginning the week of February 26, 2018 for the 2018-2019
school year.

Does my child have to be present to register?

You may register online at any time. However, your student will not be placed in a class until they are physically present at Doss and all required documents are turned in.

If your student’s registration is not completed by August 10th we cannot guarantee a class assignment for meet the teacher.

All late registrations will be placed in a class prior to the first day of school August 20, 2018.

 

Do I have to live in the Doss zone in order to enroll?

Yes. You must be zoned to this school to attend. The school is frozen to transfers for the 2018-2019 school year.

 

I do not live in the area but work close by. Can my child to attend Doss?

No. AISD policy states that a student shall be assigned to a school in the attendance area in which the student’s parents maintain their domicile.

 

What is the first day of school?

First day of school is August 20, 2018.

My child’s immunizations are not current. Can my child start school?

Unless a child’s immunizations are current when school begins on August 20, 2018, parents will be asked to obtain the needed immunizations before their child is allowed to attend school.

If entering school from outside the U.S., translations of your child’s immunizations by the parent are unable to be accepted. Please have all immunizations transcribed onto a Texas Health Card at a Texas doctor’s office or clinic.

Where do I find school supplies?

What will my child do for lunch?

Your child can bring their own lunch or purchase a lunch in the cafeteria.

If your child chooses to purchase lunch, you may enroll online at www.schoolcafe.com or place cash only in an envelope and note your student’s name, amount enclosed, grade and teacher on the envelope. All deposits work like a debit system to their account. Any carryover monies remain in the students account as long as they are in AISD.

Please Note – Students who have never attended Doss elementary will not be able to set up the lunch account prior to the first day of school because the system will not recognize them as a student until they officially begin classes.

 

How much does it cost to buy a meal at school?

Student breakfast: $1.50
Student lunch: $2.80
Adult breakfast: $2.25
Adult lunch $3.50

 

Do we meet our child’s teacher before school starts?

Meet the teacher will be August 17, 2018 from 11 – 1

 

Where do I pick up my child after school?

Please view the pickup map for the pickup location for your child’s grade.

 

What are Doss school hours?

School starts: first bell 7:30 a.m. Tardy bell 7:45 a.m.
Dismissal: Kindergarten 2:52, 1st – 5th: 2:57

 

 I want to see Doss.  Do you offer guided tours?

No spring tours will be offered this year as Doss will temporarily relocate to 2608 Richcreek Road during the renovation of
our current school into a new innovative building.

Doss is closed over the summer.  No tours will be offered.
