NEW Volunteers: Training is provided. More training information can be found here.

If you love art or love spending time with the kids but don’t have a lot of extra time for volunteering, this may be the activity for you. Come share 20-30 minutes a month (scheduling is flexible) showing a great work of art to a class. No background or knowledge in art? No problem. All that is required (in addition to the preparation and presentation time per month) is an enthusiasm for art and a belief that children benefit from art enrichment activities. You may want to present to your child’s class – or maybe even volunteer in another class that doesn’t have a parent volunteer. Training sessions for NEW volunteers will be scheduled in September/October and as needed. All necessary presentation materials and art response ideas will be provided. However, we are open to your enhancements to the program!

Returning Volunteers: Please coordinate directly with your child’s teacher at Meet The Teacher or as soon as school begins so the students may receive as many Gallery Great enrichment lessons that fit into the teacher’s schedule (e.g. once or twice a month). If there are multiple volunteers for your classroom, please get ALL the volunteers involved and scheduled. Also, let us know if you’re willing to help out another teacher that may not have any Gallery Great volunteers so the children still benefit from the program.

Note: If you sign up as a Gallery Greats volunteer, we ask that you honor your monthly presentation commitment. It will be your responsibility to follow up with the teacher to find out when he/she would like the presentation made and then make sure your monthly presentation is delivered. If there is more than one volunteer in a classroom, it will be your job to coordinate with the other volunteer(s) to make sure the monthly presentations are made so the children benefit from this art enrichment program. If we ALL take on this role, the children will benefit from more exposure to these great works of art.

Additional Volunteers are needed to help keep the material in good condition. If you are interested in helping us mount and/or fix posters, create new art responses, organize resource materials, or periodically check inventory, we’d love to work you! Please contact the current Gallery Greats Committee Chair.
