Mentoring

Doss has two mentoring programs – one is weekly, the other is monthly.

Immediate Need: More volunteers for each program! Please read on to see if you OR someone you know can offer their expertise.

By joining either of these AISD Partners in Education (APIE) Mentoring Programs, you can inspire children and help them reach their personal and academic goals. We’re looking for caring and willing volunteers to ensure every Doss child who needs a mentor has someone!

APIE Mentoring – Weekly Program, Led by our Counselors
As an APIE mentor, you will be matched with a student and meet weekly over the lunch period. Through listening, conversation, game playing, reading together and other activities, the mentor serves as a role model and trusted adult advisor to their student.

Doss Intellectual Mentors – Monthly Program, Led by our Assistant Principal
As a Doss Intellectual Mentor, you will be matched to one or more students based on your career talents and schedule and their interests. Intellectual Mentors get to meet with the student(s) either over the lunch period or before or after school about once a month to discuss a specific area of interest. Please see the Doss Intellectual Mentors Program page for more details.
