Principal Sheridan Newsletter 5/19/24

Good morning Doss Families – 

This week is the last week of the 23-24 school year and as I reflect on the year, I am again extremely thankful for you all – parents, students, staff, family, and our community.  Together we make Doss a great school! I would like to give a shout out to the Sports-A-Rama chairs, Mandy Niles, Katie Talkington, and Jacque Joyce. They organized and executed an awesome event. It was an outstanding two days filled with joy, movement, and team building. As we head into the summer, I encourage all students to continue demonstrating your Doss Pride by reading, staying active, and making healthy choices.

Reminders:

• 143 families have not enrolled/registered for the 24-25 school year. Please use this LINK to enroll/register. If you need assistance, please contact patricia.minford@austinisd.org. Parent Registration Overview
• ALL devices, iPads and Chromebooks, will be turned in this week. They stay on campus for inventory over the summer.
• As we plan for the 24-25 school year, don’t forget to order your sprout school supplies box today. Click HERE to order your school supplies box. The deadline to order a sprout school supplies box is July 10. If you prefer to buy everything on your own, HERE is the list. 
• 24-25 class lists will be posted on Thursday, August 15th at 5pm. Please do not ask your teachers to share who your child’s teacher is for the upcoming school year, it puts them in an awkward situation and things change over the summer that result in us editing class lists.
• Parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders your child’s STAAR results will be available June 14th. You will find the results through the www.texasassessment.gov Family Portal. 

Austin ISD’s Ombuds Office was reestablished in March 2024. They are now recruiting for a Special Education Ombudsperson to join their team. They are hosting an additional community meeting to explain the role and gather input on the desired qualifications and qualities of candidates for the position. Austin ISD students, parents, families, and caregivers, as well as staff, are invited to attend.  The meeting is Tuesday, May 21, 6-7:30pm via Zoom. Anyone who plans to attend is asked to register for the meeting through this Registration Link.
