Principal Update 11/5

Good afternoon Doss parents and families.  Happy Friday to you all.

We’ve had a great week of many events and activities.  As you know, Mrs. Lang is hosting her annual Book Fair, which is my very first to see at Doss.  Bonnie and I took a minute the other day to stop and appreciate the library with all of the books set up.  It was a reminder that is has been three years since we hosted a book fair at our school like this.  Combined with Mrs. Beaty’s author visit, this book fair is one to remember for sure.  Thank you Bonnie and all of our parent and staff volunteers for the great work.  Also, thank you to Mr. Bartosh for arranging the Austin Jaz Workshop!  It was awesome!

We have roughly two weeks until our first holiday break of the year.  I have been incredibly impressed with the work both students and teachers have done over the past few weeks.  After our PLC meetings, teachers have been working to ensure that all students are meeting academic expectations either through instructional time or Flexible Instruction Time (FIT).  While our FIT isn’t fully what it should be (due to not combining students), I have been proud to see the focus on interventions and enrichment with our teachers and students.  I look forward to watching our teachers use this time to support student learning.

Have a wonderful weekend!
