Principal Update 8/12/22

Good afternoon Doss parents and families.  I hope your Friday is off to a great start.

It was WONDERFUL to see many of our students and families yesterday!  Like I told many of our parents, it is always amazing to see how much our children have grown over the past few months.  I truly appreciated seeing everyone and seeing the interactions between your children and their teachers.  I look forward watching their relationships grow over the school year.

As you know, Monday begins the 2022-2023 school year.  We are looking at having one of the first “normal” years at Doss in almost three years.  As I stated in the spring, you can expect many if not all of the old Doss traditions that we all know and love.  We will also be bringing back our weekly Friday assembles sometime after Labor Day.  Keep an eye out for a specific start day and time.  Additionally, as a reminder, parents will be allowed to escort their children on the first day of school to help with the transition.  After the first day, parents must check in the office to be allowed on campus.  Know that we are well-versed in ensuring all of our students get to class safely each and every day.

Lastly, I am including a Safety and COVID-19 update slide deck for your review.  The safety section has the drop off and pick up maps for your convenience.  The COVID-19 section reviews our protocols for the beginning of the year (Note:  they mirror what we were doing at the end of spring).  Here is a simple overview:

Doss Safety and COVID-19 Slides

  • Masks will continue to be optional.  We will NOT force students to wear a mask.
  • We will have masks available in the front office should a student request one (K95 is an option).
  • Doss administration will not notify specific classrooms of a positive case.
  • When a positive case is reported, Doss administration will send out campus wide communication like we did in the past via Blend and Konstella
  • Positive cases may be reported from both at home tests and lab-confirmed.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning!  Please reach out to me if you have any campus-level questions, comments, or concerns.

-Nathan
