Principal Update 8/4

Good afternoon Doss parents and families.

We are anxiously preparing for the return of all of our staff on Monday, August 8th!  We have so many fun activities for our staff to collaborate and build community.  Our goal is to continue to build a strong foundation of community and culture for our students.  Our new staff made their way to campus this week to begin setting up their rooms and are learning all of the Doss traditions and expectations.  I am excited for you and your students to meet them.

Today I met with our CAC to finalize new membership and to review much of our campus-wide data.  It was a fruitful conversation and was a great way to set the tone for the year.  I am thankful for their time.  At this meeting, I indicated our commitment to school safety and general plans.  I informed everyone that, while we will allow parents to visit classrooms to drop off students on the first day of school, parents will have to drop their children off outside as we did last year after the first day of instruction.  Any parent/visitor that wishes to enter the school must do so by scanning their drivers license in the front office.  Please know that we are looking for ways to engage our teachers and parents to build strong and collaborative relationships.  If you have questions about this, please let me know.

Lastly, our school day hours will remain the same as this year.  Drop off and pick up will be the same as well.  More detailed information will be shared by your classroom teacher (including first day of school procedures) and by me next week.

  • 7:00:  Doors open to students to go to the cafe (either eat breakfast or wait on the learning stairs)
  • 7:30:  Students go to class.
  • 7:40:  Instruction begins (Tardy Bell)
  • 3:10:  Dismissal.

Have a wonderful weekend!
