We are excited that you will be joining us for the 2019-2020 school year.  Please read the following information and Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about enrolling and kicking off the next school year.


 

When do I register my child to attend Doss?

If you currently attend Doss or any AISD school:

STEP 1:
Log in to https://my.austinisd.org

Can’t remember your password? Select the Click here if you have forgotten your password or user name link below Forgot Password/User Name.  Upon a successful login, locate and select the Student Registration tile displayed on the home screen.

STEP 2:
Verify your Parent Cloud credentials. You can review existing data and make changes, if needed. Once the Next button is clicked to move to the next screen, all information is automatically saved. When you get to Step 9 you can upload your proof of address. The final screen is a signature screen. After clicking Confirm Enrollment, the data is saved and your student is verified to return to Doss for the 2019-2020 school. If you have another student you need to enroll, simply follow the same process. An email confirmation will be sent within 15 minutes to confirm your registration is complete.

For new or incoming students:

STEP 1:
Create a parent cloud account by going to https://my.austinisd.org

STEP 2:
Parents of incoming new students living in the Doss attendance zone can enter all necessary information online to pre-enroll the student. Required documentation can be presented at the campus on Saturday March 2 from 9am to noon to verify eligibility and complete enrollment.

For families moving over the summer:

STEP 1:
Create a parent cloud account by going to https://my.austinisd.org

STEP 2:
August registration date – August 5-7 from 8am-3pm


 

What else do I need to bring to the school to complete my child’s registration?

  • Proof of residence showing parent name
    • lease, all occupants listed
    • current mortgage statement
    • current City of Austin electric bill
  • State issued Birth Certificate
  • Immunizations https://www.austinisd.org/student-health/immunizations
  • Social Security Card
  • Parent’s driver’s license
  • Confirmation page of online registration
  • Custody documents if applicable

For Grades 1- 5 only

  • Request for records form (see end for new one)

Your student is unable to be placed in a class until all steps have been successfully completed and all documentation has been verified by the Registrar.


 

We moved from another AISD school into the neighborhood over the summer. How do I Register my child to attend Doss Elementary?

  1. Complete the online registration at https://www.austinisd.org. If Doss does not appear in the drop down for school choices complete the online registration and the registrar can make the necessary corrections when you bring your current proof of address.
  2. Bring the following documentation to the front office:
    • Proof of residence showing parent name
    • lease, all occupants listed
    • current mortgage statement
    • current City of Austin electric bill
    • State issued Birth Certificate

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if Doss is my home school?

Search by address to find out which school your child will attend  https://www.austinisd.org

 

How old does my child have to be to enter Kindergarten?

Your child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2019.

 

Does Doss offer Pre-K?

Yes. Your child must be 4 on or before September 1, 2019 to be eligible.

 

Does my child have to be present to register?

You may register online at any time. However, your child is unable to be placed in a class until they are physically in Austin and all required documents are brought to the registrar.

If your student’s registration is not completed by August 8th we cannot guarantee a class assignment for meet the teacher.
All registrations after this date will be placed in a class prior to the first day of school
Class placement is announced the first day of school

 

Do I have to live in the Doss zone in order to enroll?

Yes. The school is frozen to all transfers for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

I do not live in the area but work close by. Can my child to attend Doss?

No. AISD policy states that a student shall be assigned to a school in the attendance area in which the student’s parents maintain their domicile.

 

What is the first day of school?

First day of school is August 20, 2019.

My child’s immunizations are not current. Can my child start school?

Unless a child’s immunizations are current when school begins, your child will not be allowed to attend.

Please have all immunizations transcribed onto a Texas Health Card at a Texas doctor’s office or clinic if entering school from outside the United States. Translations by the parent are unable to be accepted.

Where do I find school supplies?

What will my child do for lunch?

Your child can bring their own lunch or purchase a lunch in the cafeteria.

If your child chooses to purchase lunch, you may enroll online at www.schoolcafe.com or place cash only in an envelope and note your student’s name, amount enclosed, grade and teacher on the envelope. All deposits work like a debit system to their account. Any carryover monies remain in the students account as long as they are in AISD.

Please Note – Students who have never attended Doss elementary will not be able to set up the lunch account prior to the first day of school because the system will not recognize them as a student until they officially begin classes.

 

How much does it cost to buy a meal at school?

Student breakfast: $1.50
Student lunch: $2.80
Adult breakfast: $2.25
Adult lunch $3.50

 

Do we meet our child’s teacher before school starts?

Yes, attend the “Meet the Teacher” event August 15 from 5:30-7 pm.

 

If I plan to pick up my child instead of having them ride the bus, where do I pick them up?

You will pick up your child in the teacher’s parking lot on Silvercrest Dr on the northwest side of campus.

 

If I plan to have my child ride the bus, where do they get on and off the bus?

What are Doss school hours?

School starts: first bell 7:30 a.m. Tardy bell 7:45 a.m.
Dismissal: Kindergarten 2:52 p.m., 1st – 5th 2:57 p.m.

 

I am unable to pick up my child after school. Is there someone that can watch him?

No one is available to watch your child when school dismisses.

I want to see Doss.  Do you offer guided tours?

We offer Monthly tours on the following dates:
February 24, March 1, April 15, May 6.
Meet in the front lobby at 9 a.m. No appointment necessary.
Doss is closed over the summer.

Religious Holy Days

Under state law and local policy, students are excused from school attendance for observation of religious holy days, including up to one day of excused travel for traveling to the site where the student will observe the holy days and up to one day of excused travel for traveling from that site. Tex. Educ. Code § 25.087(b); 19 TAC § 129.21(k)(4); FEA(LEGAL).

Please fill out a Holy Day Form for each day your student will be out AFTER the holidays and email it to dossattendance@austinisd.org or drop it off in the front office. District does not accept excused notes for future absences.
