What is the Doss Mandarin Immersion Program?
The Doss Mandarin Immersion Program is a language acquisition program in which the students spend half of their day immersed in Mandarin language. Math and Science are taught in Mandarin. Our program follows the 50/50 Immersion Model.
What is the daily schedule of a kinder student in the Mandarin Immersion Program?
Kinder students in Mandarin Immersion start their day in the English classroom with their English teacher. They have Language Arts and Social Studies instruction in English. Midday, they go to lunch as a class. Their Mandarin teacher picks them up from lunch and the rest of the day is spent learning Math and Science entirely in Mandarin.

Students who are confident and eager to learn are the best fit for this program.
Who is eligible for the program?
The entry point into the program is Kindergarten. There are two requirements. First, you must reside in the Doss attendance zone prior to beginning the application process. We are a closed campus and are unable to make any exceptions to the zone policy. Transfers are unable to be accepted. Secondly, parents must attend one information session with the principal prior to applying. If you have an incoming kindergarten student, and currently live in the Doss residential area, you may begin registration the registration process after January 4, 2021. Applications are due on or before March 5, 2021 at 12:00 pm. If there are more applicants than spots, a lottery will be conducted. Incoming kinder students who have older siblings in the program are automatically accepted into the program and only need to complete the online registration and commitment letter.
When are the required parent informational session?
Parents must attend one of the informational sessions in order to apply.

- February 11, 2021 – 5:30 – 6:00 pm
- February 25, 2021 – 8:05 – 8:35 am
When are the applications available for the 2021-2022 school year?
Applications will be available through your zoom session. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org if you did not download a form. All applications are due on or before noon Friday March 5, 2021. No late applications accepted.
If I apply to the program, when will I find out if my child got in?
Families will be notified of their status April 5, 2021. If selected, you will be asked to sign a commitment form. Once you return the commitment form, your child will officially be enrolled in the Doss Mandarin Immersion program. If any families decline their slot, those next on the wait list will be contacted as space permits.
