Principal Sheridan Newsletter 11/12/23

Good morning Doss Families –

Huge shout out to the Book Fair chairs and librarians. Doss Book Fair was a great community builder and a huge success! The 5th grade Musical was awesome! Thank you to the 5th graders and their families for all the time and effort you committed to this spectacular production. I am blown away by our talented students.

No school on Monday, November 13th, it is a student holiday. Tuesday kicks off Doss Kindness Week with daily spirit themes that compliment the kindness challenges. We look forward to witnessing KINDNESS around campus next week and always. Thursday our cafeteria is hosting Thanksgiving Lunch. As you join your children for this special lunch, please sit at the designated visitor tables so we do not disturb the class’s assigned tables.

Enroll Austin – yes, it’s time to register your child for the 24-25 school year! I know it seems early to register for the next school year when we’re in the first half of this school year but accurate enrollment numbers assists AISD with staffing allocations and budgeting.  You may reach out to Pat Minford if you have questions.

The Austin Powwow and American Indian Festival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Travis Expo Center (7311 Decker Ln. Austin, TX 78724). The event includes traditional dance competitions, singers, musicians, artists, craftsmen, and a Native American market and food court. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Parking is FREE. Adult tickets can be purchased online for $7 or at the gate for $10, cash only.

Austin ISD is offering Family Empower Hours. These sessions provide valuable information and support to our students’ families. Topics include special education and social emotional learning.

Have a wonderful week,

Principal Sheridan
