Principal Sheridan Newsletter 1/28/24

Good morning Doss Families –

Doss has made an adjustment to technology use. As of Tuesday, January 23rd, we no longer allow technology during free time and indoor recess. Students have plenty of opportunities to use technology throughout the day in academic settings and outside of school. Teachers have board games, cards, books, markers, etc for students to use during those free times, Fun Fridays, or indoor recess days.

Safe Routes to School encourages students to walk and bike to school everyday.  Our campus is fortunate to have safe bike lanes and walking paths. HERE are some safety reminders when navigating around campus. Anyone that tried to navigate around campus during drop off and dismissal this week noticed Brad, the crossing guard at Far West and Northledge, has been absent and this has thrown off our already congested traffic flow. We welcome any parent volunteers that can assist the substitute crossing guards with traffic.

This Friday, February 2nd is Austin ISD Future Ready Spirit Day. During Future Ready Days campus students, teachers, staff, and administrators dress in college, career or military t-shirts/uniforms that align with future college and career plans.

In addition to Future Ready Spirit Day this Friday, Feb. 2nd is a Parent Principal Coffee.  This coffee will be a free form discussion format to just ask questions and catch up, no specific agenda.

There is a parent education opportunity for families with students identified as Gifted & Talented. It is in Waco this weekend, February 3rd.  GT Parent Conference

Enroll Austin priority registration window closes February 6th!

Have a great week –
