Principal Sheridan Newsletter 10/15/23

Good morning Doss Families –

Hope this finds you doing well. Tomorrow, October 16th marks the beginning of the 9 week grading period and the Austin ISD will begin the Million Minute Challenge.

The Million Minute Challenge is a healthy reading competition between schools. The purpose of this challenge is to encourage students to read as many minutes as they can and expand their reading by focusing on different genres and subjects as they read.

Students will log minutes using this form. A parent, librarian, or staff member can also log minutes for a student or on behalf of a class. This is the link to the Million Minute Challenge log form. You can also access the form through the AISD Portal. All reading counts, this includes independent reading, read alouds, online reading, and audiobooks.

Let’s get reading Doss Owls and be sure to log those minutes!

This Friday, October 20th will be the Ice Ice Baby Friday Assembly.  Our PTA president, vice-president, and I will have ice dumped on our heads because of your outstanding generosity during the No Hassle fundraiser. The Doss community continues to amaze me by going over and beyond supporting our school.  THANK YOU!

A friendly reminder, students may not have smartwatches or cell phones out during the school day.  They must be kept off and in their backpacks during school hours.

Have a wonderful week –

Principal Sheridan
